September 2026 marks an exciting moment for the growth of skimboarding, with five prominent events connecting a national championship in the Netherlands, regional competition in the United States, a groundbreaking international gathering in Bali, and the championship finale of the United Skim Tour.

Dutch Skimboarding Championships

A national championship contested in a skatepark rather than on a shoreline, featuring jams, a best trick competition and €1,000 in prize money.
Bali Skim Gathering
Pantai Berawa, Canggu, Bali, Indonesia
Promoted as Indonesia's first international skimboarding gathering, expected to unite skimboarders representing 10 countries from across the region.
Skim Bash
Sea Bright Municipal Beach, Sea Bright, New Jersey
Hosted by Skim USA on the East Coast, running the same weekend as Bali and Santa Cruz.
2026 Pacific Wave Open

Presented by Premier Skim on the West Coast, completing a single Saturday of skimboarding across three coastlines.
Exile Oktoberfest

The final event of the 2026 United Skim Tour, where the season concludes and the 2026 champions are crowned. GSF will be on site.
The Month Opens in Europe
Nijmegen, the Netherlands
The Dutch Skimboarding Championships take place September 5 at Waalhalla Skatepark in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, opening the month a full week before anything else on this calendar.
The championships are contested in a skatepark rather than on a shoreline. The event showcases urban skimboarding through jams and a best trick competition, with €1,000 in prize money.
A national championship is one of the clearest signals that a sport has taken root in a country. It means there are enough riders to fill a field, enough organizers to run a format, and enough of a community to care who the best of them is.
It also makes a point the Federation holds to firmly. Skimboarding is not a single discipline. A championship held on concrete deserves the same structure, recognition and pathway as one held on sand.

A Historic International Gathering
Bali, Indonesia
The Bali Skim Gathering will take place September 12 to 13 at Pantai Berawa in Canggu, Bali, Indonesia.
Promoted as Indonesia's first international skimboarding gathering, this historic event is expected to unite skimboarders representing 10 countries from across the region.
This is an important step forward for the international development of the sport, creating new relationships among athletes, organizers, skimboarding communities and countries throughout Asia and the surrounding region.
For a sport whose organized history has been concentrated on a small number of coastlines, a gathering that draws ten national communities into one place is not simply another event on the calendar. It is the kind of moment that turns scattered local scenes into a region, and regions into a sport with a genuine international structure.

Skim USA will host the Skim Bash on September 12 and 13 at Sea Bright Municipal Beach in Sea Bright, New Jersey.
East Coast skimboarding has built its own culture, its own conditions and its own athletes, and events like the Skim Bash are where that community gathers, competes and grows the next group of riders.

2026 Pacific Wave Open
On the West Coast, Premier Skim will present the 2026 Pacific Wave Open on September 12 at Moran Lake Beach in Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz, California.
Santa Cruz carries one of California's deepest wave-riding traditions, and an open format brings competitors of different levels onto the same beach on the same day.
The Same Weekend
Bali. New Jersey. California.
With events happening simultaneously in Bali, New Jersey and California, this weekend demonstrates the growing strength and reach of skimboarding at the regional, national and international levels.
The United Skim Tour Finale
The season ends at Balboa Pier
The month will conclude with Exile Oktoberfest, September 19 and 20 on the south side of Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, California.

Where the 2026 champions are crowned
Oktoberfest is the final event of the 2026 United Skim Tour. The results will conclude the season and determine the 2026 United Skim Tour champions, widely recognized as the professional world champions of skimboarding.
The Global Skimboarding Federation will be at Balboa Pier to support the athletes, organizers and international skimboarding community as the 2026 champions are crowned.

What September Represents
An important month for the future of skimboarding
From a national championship to regional competition, international collaboration and the crowning of the year's professional champions, September represents an important month for the future of skimboarding.
Five events, organized by five different groups of people, on three continents, inside sixteen days. None of them needed permission from a governing body to happen. That is exactly the point. Skimboarding already has the athletes, the organizers, the communities and the audiences of an international sport. What it has never had is a structure that connects them to each other.
That is the work the Global Skimboarding Federation exists to do: to stand behind the events and communities that already carry the sport, to connect them across borders, and to build the pathway that lets a young skimboarder anywhere in the world move from a first lesson to a national team to a world stage.
