Privacy and Data Protection
Your information, in plain language
This policy explains what the Global Skimboarding Federation collects, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. Effective August 2026.
The Short Version
Five commitments you can hold us to
GSF is a nonprofit federation, not a data business. We collect the minimum needed to run memberships and programs, we take extra care with youth information, and we never sell personal information. Ever.
We collect what you send us
Information reaches GSF when you choose to send it, by email or through a form: your name, contact details, and the details of a membership application. We do not gather personal data behind your back.
Payments stay with the processors
Donation processing is handled by Donorbox and PayPal under their own privacy policies. GSF does not receive or store your full card or bank details.
No advertising trackers
This website carries no advertising trackers. We do not profile visitors for advertisers, and we do not sell personal information to anyone, for any reason.
Extra care with youth data
Members under 18 join with parental consent, and we collect the minimum information needed to run youth memberships and programs. A youth-serving federation owes young athletes nothing less.
You can ask us to delete it
Email contact@gsfmail.org to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We honor access and deletion requests.
Effective August 2026
This policy is effective August 2026. If we change it, we will update this page. Material changes to how we handle member data will be announced to members.
The Full Policy
Privacy and Data Protection Policy
The complete policy of the Global Skimboarding Federation, a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation and 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 42-3150113.
GSF collects the information you choose to send us by email or through forms on this site. Depending on what you send, that may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, country, and the details of a membership application, such as your membership level, discipline and, for athlete members, basic athlete information. If you email us about programs, events, partnership or a concern, we receive the contents of your message.
This website does not use advertising trackers. We do not buy personal data about you from third parties.
We use the information you provide to process membership applications and renewals, issue membership certificates and member numbers, issue donation receipts, respond to your messages, administer programs and events you take part in, and send you the news and updates you request. If you subscribe to Federation news, you can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any message or emailing contact@gsfmail.org.
We do not use your information for purposes unrelated to the Federation's charitable mission, and we do not sell personal information. Ever.
Donations to GSF are processed by Donorbox, which integrates PayPal. When you donate, your payment information is collected and processed by those providers under their own privacy policies and security standards. GSF does not receive or store your full card number or bank credentials. We receive the information needed to record your gift and issue your tax receipt, such as your name, contact details, donation amount and any campaign designation you choose.
GSF is a youth-serving organization and treats the information of young people with heightened care. Membership for athletes under 18 requires parental or guardian consent. For youth members we collect the minimum information needed to administer their membership and the programs they join, and communications about a youth member's participation are directed to the parent or guardian. Parents and guardians may review, correct or request deletion of their child's information at any time by emailing contact@gsfmail.org.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share information only with the service providers who make our operations possible, such as email hosting and the payment processors named above, and only as needed to do the work. We may disclose information if required by law. If a member chooses to appear in public-facing programs, such as the Global Athlete Map, we publish only what that member (or their parent or guardian, for youth members) agrees to share.
We keep membership and donation records for as long as needed to administer memberships and to meet the recordkeeping obligations of a 501(c)(3) public charity. Beyond that, we do not hold personal information longer than we need it.
You may ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send requests to contact@gsfmail.org. We honor access and deletion requests, subject to records we are legally required to keep, and we will tell you plainly if any part of a request cannot be fulfilled and why.
We take reasonable measures to protect the information in our care, including limiting access to those who need it to do Federation work and relying on established providers for payment processing and email infrastructure. No organization can guarantee perfect security, and we do not claim certifications we do not hold. What we commit to is minimal collection, careful handling, and honesty with you if something goes wrong.
This policy is effective August 2026. We may update it as the Federation's programs grow; the current version will always be published on this page, and material changes affecting member data will be announced to members.
