The Progression
From first clinic to head judge
GSF is structuring judge development as a progressive pathway. Each level builds on demonstrated knowledge and real event experience, from entry-level education through to international and head-judge qualifications.
Entry-Level Judge Education
Foundational education in judging criteria, scoring and event conduct for new judge members.
Practical Event Judging
Supervised judging at local and regional events, building consistency across formats and conditions.
National-Level Officiating
Panel judging and officiating responsibility at national-level competition, with workshop-based development.
International and Head-Judge Qualification
International assignments and head-judge responsibility, offered based on qualification and experience as formal certification is established.

Instructor Development and Employment
GSF trains instructors.
Then GSF employs them.
Most sports ask instructors to volunteer forever. GSF's Instructor Development and Employment program is different: it trains skimboarding instructors and then puts them to work, beginning with approximately 20 instructors and expanding toward a much larger statewide and national network.
GSF instructors are the workforce behind the programs that carry the sport to new communities: the School Skimboarding Program, After-School Beach Clinics, the Mobile Skim Academy and adaptive sessions. As those programs grow, so does the instructor network that runs them.

Skimboarding happens where the ocean meets the sand. GSF weaves safety education through every program it runs, from a child's first lesson to the operation of a sanctioned event.

Adaptive skimboarding asks more of an instructor: specialized instruction techniques for athletes with disabilities, careful session design, and the use of controlled training environments where conditions can be managed for each athlete.
