International Pathway
One sport. Seventy-five countries. One direction.
Skimboarding is already practiced around the world. The Global Skimboarding Federation is building the national organizations, governance and competition structure that can carry it from a globally practiced action sport to an organized international athletic movement.
International Development
Building the sport,
nation by nation
GSF is connecting organizers and athletes across at least 75 countries, helping each one establish a recognized national skimboarding organization, growing participation where the sport already exists, and introducing it to coastal communities that have never seen it.
Connect the world
Organizers and athletes across at least 75 countries, linked into one international community with a shared direction for the sport.
Establish national organizations
Helping countries form recognized national skimboarding organizations, the essential building blocks of any international federation.
National AffiliationGrow and introduce
Increasing participation in countries where skimboarding exists today, and introducing the sport to new coastal communities around the world.
Emerging National Federations
Support from
the first meeting
A national federation does not appear overnight. GSF supports emerging national federations as the international structure develops, working toward shared standards that make each national organization credible at home and connected abroad.
Standards in Development
What national support covers
- Standards for national membership
- Athlete representation
- International championships
- Officials and officiating development
- Governance frameworks
- Eligibility standards
These standards are being developed openly as the federation grows, and will be published as they are adopted.
75 Countries United
The sport is already global.
Now it gets organized.
From its birthplace beaches to shorelines on every inhabited continent, skimboarding is practiced far beyond where most of the world realizes. GSF exists to prove it, connect it, and organize it.
Proof of Reach
The Global Athlete Map and Directory
The clearest evidence of a worldwide sport is its athletes. The Global Athlete Map and Directory gathers headshots, countries, disciplines and biographies from skimboarders around the world into a single living picture of the sport's true international reach.
- Athlete headshots and biographies
- Countries represented on the map
- Disciplines practiced worldwide
Athlete and Community Research
Built on what
athletes actually want
GSF runs athlete and community research surveys so the international structure is shaped by the people it serves. Athletes tell us directly what they want, and their answers inform every program we build.
- School and education programs
- Travel and international opportunity
- Event formats athletes want to compete in
- Interest in Olympic participation
- Availability and scheduling
- Fair athlete compensation
World Games Pathway
Building what the pathway requires In Development
Major international multi-sport events do not invite a sport; they invite a structure. GSF is methodically building the elements that pathway requires, in the open, one foundation at a time.
Governance
A California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation and 501(c)(3) public charity, building the transparent governance an international federation requires.
International participation
Participation across national organizations, supported by GSF's work connecting organizers and athletes in 75+ countries.
Competition structure
Consistent rules, judging standards, rankings, formats and sanctioned events from local to international level.
Adaptive division
An adaptive skimboarding program with a future competition pathway, because a world sport includes every athlete.
Sport-development requirements
Youth programs, education, athlete support and national federation development that demonstrate a growing, well-governed sport.
The Work Ahead
What GSF is building toward that pathway
- Transparent, accountable governance
- International participation across national organizations
- A recognized international competition structure
- An adaptive competition division
- Sport-development requirements met and documented
Each element is in active development. GSF marks developing items honestly and publishes standards as they are adopted.
Long-Term Olympic Ambition
The ambition is real.
So is the work.
GSF's long-term ambition is serious and openly stated: to build the organizational, geographic, competitive and governance foundation needed to pursue recognition within the international sports movement, toward The World Games and, ultimately, potential inclusion in the Olympic Games.
Organizational
A properly governed nonprofit federation with the structures international sport expects.
Geographic
National organizations and athlete communities connected across 75+ countries.
Competitive
Consistent rules, judging, rankings and a sanctioned championship structure.
Governance
Integrity, safeguarding, transparency and accountability built in from day one.
