Our Mission

From a first lesson at the local beach
to the international stage

The mission of the Global Skimboarding Federation is to promote, develop, organize, and expand skimboarding throughout the world through youth development, education, athlete support, competition, beach safety, environmental stewardship, and international collaboration.

Grow the sport worldwide

We support organized skimboarding communities and emerging national federations across the globe, introducing the sport to new coastal communities while strengthening the beaches that built it.

International Pathway

Open the door for youth

School programs, after-school beach clinics, sponsored memberships, stipends and the Mobile Skim Academy give every young person a way into the water, whether they live on the coast or inland.

Youth and Scholarships

Build real competition

Consistent rules, independent judging, rankings and a sanctioned event structure, developed openly and applied from grassroots contests to a future international championship tour.

Competition

European Expansion · Germany and the Netherlands

Strengthening the European connection

The Global Skimboarding Federation is glad to recognize an important connection forming within the European skimboarding community.

Sebastian, founder and chief executive of German Skim Zone and founder of the European Skim Tour, is traveling to the Netherlands to meet with Adrien Raza and members of the Dutch skimboarding community, ahead of the Dutch Skimboarding Championships on September 5 at Waalhalla Skatepark in Nijmegen.

For the Federation, a meeting like this one is the practical work behind the vision. Relationships between Germany, the Netherlands and the wider European community are what international cooperation and national representation are actually built from, one conversation and one shared event at a time.

It also speaks to something the Federation holds to firmly. Skimboarding is not a single discipline. The championships in Nijmegen are contested in a skatepark rather than on a shoreline, and that form of the sport deserves the same structure, recognition and pathway as any other.

We envision a child discovering skimboarding at their local beach or through a school program, with a pathway that can carry them from their first lesson to local competition, national competition, and one day representing their country internationally.

Long-Term Olympic Ambition. GSF is working to build the governance, international participation and competition structure needed to pursue recognition within the international sports movement, including a future pathway toward The World Games and, ultimately, potential inclusion in the Olympic Games.
