Recognition Disclaimer

Where we stand, stated plainly

Ambition and honesty belong together. This page states exactly what the Global Skimboarding Federation is today, what it is not, and what it is building toward.

The Disclaimer

Our official statement on recognition

The Global Skimboarding Federation is not currently recognized by the International Olympic Committee, the International World Games Association, or any national Olympic committee. References to the World Games and the Olympic Games describe GSF's long-term development ambitions and the governance, international participation, and competition structures GSF is working to build. They do not imply current recognition, sanctioning, or endorsement.

Why We Say This

The architecture of a mature federation, with the honesty of a young one

GSF deliberately follows the architecture of mature international federations: an integrity hub, membership structure, education pathways, adaptive programs, competition standards and governance. That is how a sport earns its place in international athletics.

But architecture is not the same as arrival. GSF is early in its development, and we will always be transparent about that. Where a program is still being built, we mark it "In Development". Where recognition has not been granted, we say so plainly, as this page does. The Federation's credibility rests on that discipline.

What Recognition Requires

The foundations GSF is building

Recognition within the international sports movement is earned over years, through demonstrated governance, genuine international participation and credible competition. GSF is building those foundations now:

  • Nonprofit governance, transparency and accountable leadership
  • National organizations across the globe, toward 75 countries united
  • Internationally consistent competition standards, rules, judging and rankings
  • An adaptive skimboarding division and pathway
  • An integrity policy framework: safeguarding, ethics, inclusion and clean sport education

The Long Game

Recognition is earned. We intend to earn it.

Every member, every national organization and every fairly judged contest is a step toward skimboarding's place in international sport. Join the Federation and help build the case.
